Rest day in Çanakkale

After waking up from a very deep sleep following a busy day after the dawn service, we went down for our first Turkish breakfast. We were met by olives, cucumber and tomato which was something that no one was used to. We then had a free day that involved us either shopping, sleeping and trying the local kebabs! After this we watched the Australian under 17`s soccer team play against Turkey. Turkey won 2-1, only winning in the last couple of minutes of the game. On the way back to the hotel, we saw the model of the wooden horse of Troy. After the game finished it was organised for the team to join us for tea which was enjoyed by all, but slightly worried Mr Croft due to some raging hormones. We were clearly told no sneaking in or out of hotel rooms so we retreated to our rooms for a good nights sleep ready to revisıt the Gallipoli Peninsula tomorrow.

  1. Hi Tameeka
    Looks like you are having lots of fun, the photos are great. We watch the service and looked for you, but couldn't see you. It's time for you to come home now because Lachlan and I are fighting over who is going to move into your bedroom!!

  2. Hi Everyone,
    Finally got logged on (had a few issues with the PC)
    Sounds like everyone is having a great time.
    The Service at Gallipoli would have been a very moving experience it is emotional enough watching it on television but actually being there where so many men arrived only never to return home again. Did anyone see any ghosts I am sure they were there and proud that people still remember their sacrifice 96 years later.
    On a lighter note when you were in Belgium did any of the chocoholics (eg Kimberly) have to be forcibly removed from the chocolate vendors? by the way Kimberly I don't think 5kg of choccy is acceptable as carry on luggage.
    Have a good time in Turkey.

    PS Kimberly I convinced Kev not to send your mad hound Pickle but am a little puzzled as to how I am going to get it out of the post tube as it seems to be wrapped in 15 metres of bubblewrap and an awful lot of tape....by the way the homeless person said they will be out of your room by Saturday....Maybe :}
